20 Dead After Powerful 7.4-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Colombia, Situation Critical

At least 20 people were killed after a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, Reuters reported.\

The strong tremors caused buildings to collapse, trapping people under rubble and leaving several others injured. The quake prompted residents to flee their homes as emergency teams began rescue and relief operations in affected areas.

The epicentre was located near San Jose del Palmar, a community of around 4,800 people situated about 400 kilometres west of the capital Bogota. According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake struck at a depth of approximately 107 kilometres.

Strong tremors were also felt in neighbouring Ecuador, with authorities monitoring the situation for further damage and aftershocks.
