Yoga a ‘Pause Button’ for Humanity Amid Global Unrest: PM Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday described yoga as a powerful tool for inner peace and global harmony, calling it the “pause button” the world needs amid growing unrest.

Speaking at the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations in Visakhapatnam, PM Modi said, “Sarve bhavantu sukhinah (may all be happy) – this should guide our way of life. Unfortunately, the world today is witnessing widespread violence and ashanti (unrest). Yoga helps us pause, breathe, find balance, and regain composure.”

Referencing ongoing conflicts in West Asia and Europe, he said yoga helps dissolve the ego and transforms the mindset from “me” to “we,” promoting a sense of global unity.

Explaining the theme of this year’s Yoga Day – ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’ – the Prime Minister emphasized the deep interconnection between all living beings. “Yoga awakens our awareness of this interconnectedness. It teaches that we are not isolated individuals, but part of nature,” he said.

He also stressed that yoga is not limited by boundaries, backgrounds, age, or ability. “Whether it’s the Sydney Opera House, Mount Everest, or the vast oceans, yoga’s message is universal,” he added.

Describing yoga as a practice that transcends nationalities and communities, PM Modi said it fosters discipline, wellness, and compassion — values crucial in today’s unstable world.
