The Air India Boeing Dreamliner crash has officially claimed 275 lives, according to a statement released today by the Gujarat Health Department. Of the deceased, 241 were passengers.
And crew onboard, while 34 fatalities occurred on the ground. This is the first official confirmation of the total death toll. The tragic incident occurred on June 12 during the flight’s journey to London. Until now, authorities had refrained from releasing a definitive casualty figure, citing the need for DNA analysis to confirm identities.
Health officials noted that DNA identification is still underway for several victims, and the final tally may be subject to minor revisions as the process continues.
