Hema Malini Attends Prayer Meet of Late Actor-Producer Dheeraj Kumar.
Veteran actor and BJP MP Hema Malini paid her last respects to actor-producer Dheeraj Kumar, who passed away earlier this week. The prayer meeting was held in Mumbai on Friday and saw family members, close friends, and industry colleagues gather to honour the late filmmaker’s memory.
Tributes Pour In at Mumbai Prayer Meet
Hema Malini was among the prominent faces who attended the solemn ceremony. She offered heartfelt condolences to Kumar’s grieving family, meeting with his loved ones to share in their sorrow. Actor Poonam Dhillon was also seen at the prayer meet, as fans and peers remembered Kumar’s contributions to Indian cinema and television.
A Career Spanning Films and Television
Dheeraj Kumar, best known for his roles in classic films such as Roti Kapda Aur Makaan and for producing acclaimed television shows like Om Namah Shivay and Adalat, died on July 15 at the age of 79. He had been admitted to the intensive care unit of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai with acute pneumonia.
“He passed away this morning at 11:00 am due to pneumonia,” confirmed Ajay Shukla, a close associate and family friend. “He had been unwell since Saturday with fever, cold, and cough and was moved to the ICU due to his age.”
A Legacy Remembered
Apart from Hindi cinema, Dheeraj Kumar had also made his mark in Punjabi films and television. One of his final public appearances was at the inauguration of the ISKCON temple in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. He is survived by his wife, Zuby Kochar.
