AOC Criticizes Charlie Kirk’s Beliefs While Condemning His Murder.

US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez opposed a resolution honoring the life of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, condemning his murder but sharply criticizing his ideology.

Speaking on the House floor, Ocasio-Cortez called Kirk’s death at Utah Valley University on September 10 a “horrific and vile incident of political violence” but said it was important to remember his beliefs. She highlighted Kirk’s controversial statements, including opposition to the Civil Rights Act and comments about Paul Pelosi’s attack, and accused him of spreading rhetoric aimed at disenfranchising Americans. “His rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant, uneducated and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans — far from the ‘working tirelessly to promote unity’ as asserted in the resolution,” she said.

Ocasio-Cortez also criticized Republicans for introducing the measure on a “purely partisan basis.” The resolution, which described Kirk as a “devoted Christian, dedicated husband, and loving father,” was opposed by 57 other Democrats, including Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Maxine Waters.
