India will aim to seal a 2-0 series sweep over the West Indies as they face off in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from October 10-14.
The Shubman Gill-led side dominated the series opener, winning by an innings and 140 runs. India’s comprehensive performance in the first Test saw KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja score centuries, while Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav shared the wickets effectively.
Given the dominance in the opening fixture, team management is expected to stick largely with the same playing XI. The only minor concerns were Sai Sudharsan, who was dismissed for 7 (19), and Washington Sundar, who scored 9* (13) and took two wickets. Assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate confirmed that both players have the management’s backing and will get another opportunity in the second Test.
The only potential change could involve resting one of India’s frontline pacers, either Bumrah or Siraj, ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa in November. This could allow Prasidh Krishna to make his debut on Indian pitches.
India’s Predicted XI:
Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (c), Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja (vc), Nitish Reddy, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah/Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj.
