Kalyani Priyadarshan Celebrates Lokah Chapter 1 Crossing ₹300 Crore, Makes Malayalam Film History.
Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has made history as the first Malayalam film to cross the ₹300 crore mark at the global box office. The superhero film, directed by Dominic Arun, has emerged as a blockbuster, and the actress expressed her excitement and gratitude on social media.
Sharing a poster of the film with “300 crore GBOC” highlighted, Kalyani wrote, “Everyone who stood behind, beside and in front of the camera, and everyone who filled the theatres… We made history. Beyond grateful.”
About the Film
Produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra stars Kalyani as Chandra, a mysterious woman who arrives in Bangalore and gets entangled with a gang involved in organ trafficking. The film also features Naslen, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, and Chandu Salim Kumar. Released on August 28 during the Onam season, Lokah received glowing reviews and strong word-of-mouth, quickly becoming a nationwide sensation.
The film has surpassed the box office collections of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan (₹265.5 crore), Soubin Shahir’s Manjummel Boys (₹240 crore), and Mohanlal’s Thudarum (₹234.5 crore).
Lokah Chapter 2 Announced
Following the massive success, the makers have announced a sequel, Lokah Chapter 2, starring Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan. A poster and a three-minute promo titled “When Legends Chill” introduced Tovino as Michael/Chathan and Dulquer as Charlie/Odiyan.
