Bengaluru Roads Debate: Biocon Founder Kiren Mazumdar-Shaw Meets Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar.

Biocon founder Kiren Mazumdar-Shaw on Tuesday met Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, amid growing concerns over Bengaluru’s road conditions and infrastructure.

The visits followed Mazumdar-Shaw’s social media post highlighting a foreign guest’s unpleasant experience on pothole-ridden, garbage-strewn roads in the city. Her post sparked wide attention online and prompted responses from the state administration defending its work.

Meeting with DK Shivakumar
During her meeting with Deputy CM Shivakumar, Mazumdar-Shaw discussed Bengaluru’s growth, innovation, and ways to improve infrastructure. Shivakumar shared a photo of the meeting on X, writing, “It was a pleasure to meet Kiren Mazumdar-Shaw, entrepreneur and Founder of Biocon. We had an engaging discussion on Bengaluru’s growth, innovation, and the path ahead for Karnataka’s growth story.”

Sources close to Shivakumar described the meeting as productive, noting that he assured Mazumdar-Shaw he would visit key areas in Bengaluru and consult with industry stakeholders to improve roads. Reports also indicate that Shivakumar advised her to avoid making controversial statements publicly.

Meeting with CM Siddaramaiah
Mazumdar-Shaw also visited Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his official residence. According to CMO sources, the meeting was a personal visit to invite the CM to a family wedding and to extend Diwali greetings. No infrastructure issues were discussed during this visit.
