Body pain is increasingly common among young adults and athletes, especially those engaged in intense physical activity.
While balms, sprays and painkillers may take time to show results, a few lesser-known exercises can offer surprisingly quick relief. A social media page, The Anatomy of Therapy, recently shared a video demonstrating simple, indoor-friendly movements that help ease muscle stiffness across various parts of the body.
For Trapezius Muscle Pain
Located between the neck and shoulder, the trapezius often tightens due to posture issues or strain. To relax it, stand beside a wall and rotate your torso from the waist so that your shoulder moves toward the wall. Repeat this 10–15 times. The motion helps improve shoulder and neck mobility while easing tension in the area.
For Rotator Cuff Relief
Shoulder stiffness is common among gym-goers and athletes. To loosen the rotator cuff, stand near a firm surface, place your elbow on top of it, lean forward and take deep breaths. This gentle stretch helps reduce tightness and offers near-instant relief.
For Rhomboid Muscle Pain
The rhomboids, located between the shoulder blades, can cause sharp discomfort when strained. Sit upright on a chair or stool, place one hand behind your neck, and use the other hand to hold the opposite bicep. Lean back slightly and repeat the stretch 10–15 times. This movement helps release pressure in the upper back and thoracic spine.
For Pain Along the Spine
To ease discomfort along the spine, sit on a chair and hold a hand towel with both hands. Move your arms up and down in a gentle, controlled motion. This exercise activates and stretches the muscles along the spine, improving flexibility and reducing pain.
For Latissimus Dorsi Tightness
The latissimus dorsi—the large muscle running along the sides of the back—can tighten due to overuse. Press your right thumb into a doorframe, lean your body away from it, and breathe deeply. Hold for a few seconds before releasing. This stretch helps loosen the muscle and reduce lingering discomfort.
