US lawmaker Bill Huizenga has linked the recent Pahalgam terror attack to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba and its proxy.

The Resistance Front, noting that both groups “were designated by the Trump administration as foreign terrorist organisations in July 2025.” His remarks signal growing concern in Washington over the operational reach of LeT-linked outfits and their involvement in cross-border violence.

Speaking at a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee hearing on “The US-India Strategic Partnership: Securing a Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” Huizenga also underlined the expanding strategic and economic ties between New Delhi and Washington.

He said India’s rapid economic growth has made it an increasingly attractive market for American businesses. “India is one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world… American companies are eager to enter the Indian market on a level playing field,” he noted.

Huizenga added that “a new trade deal with India under President Trump and Prime Minister Modi would further advance this goal,” stressing that deeper economic engagement is central to strengthening bilateral relations.

Highlighting the broader geopolitical stakes, he pointed to the combined economic weight of the two nations. “I look forward to hearing how the world’s largest economy and the soon-to-be third-largest economy can work together to counterbalance China and maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific,” he said.
