Woman Alleges Assault at Luthras’ Goa Club: Claims She Was Hit With Rod.

A woman has accused staff at Romeo Lane, a beach shack in Goa owned by the Luthra brothers, of assaulting her and her family, describing the attack as brutal and frightening.

The woman, Vaibhav Chandel from Mumbai, said she visited the club in Vagator on November 1 with 13 relatives. She described the shack as “suffocating”, with only one entry and exit, making it difficult to leave during the incident.

Chandel alleged that the staff initially spoke rudely and behaved inappropriately. Around 3 a.m., when a chair obstructed their path, her cousin moved it, angering the manager. She recounted:

“The manager grabbed my cousin by the collar and said, ‘You are damaging the furniture; we should have thrown you out earlier. You don’t have the status to be here.’ He then called all security personnel and bouncers, who began chasing and hitting us. My sister was struck on the chest and pushed down the stairs, while my brother was attacked with a rod.”

Chandel added that she was slapped and pulled by her t-shirt when she tried to intervene. The group eventually went to the police the next morning to file a complaint. An FIR was registered against the club manager, Ajay Kavitkar, staff member Junaid Ali, and the security team. While Chandel initially included the Luthra brothers, Gaurav and Saurabh, in the complaint, police removed their names, citing they were not physically present.

She emphasized the need for tourist and women’s safety in Goa, warning that similar incidents could recur without stricter oversight.

The club, Romeo Lane, was demolished earlier this week on orders from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, following the Birch By Romeo Lane nightclub fire that killed 25 people. The restaurant had been built illegally on government land. The Luthra brothers, charged with culpable homicide in connection with the fire, reportedly fled India shortly afterward, boarding a flight from Delhi to Phuket, Thailand.
