Rakesh Bedi has addressed the recent allegations of kissing his Dhurandhar co-star Sara Arjun during the film’s trailer launch last month.

The 71-year-old actor, who plays the cunning politician Jameel Jamali, was accused of inappropriately kissing Sara, who plays his daughter Yalina Jamali, on the shoulder during the event. Bedi has now dismissed the claims, calling them “stupid.”

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Rakesh said, “Sara is less than half my age and plays my daughter. Whenever we met on set, she would greet me with a hug, just as a daughter would with her father. We share a warm rapport, which comes across on screen.”

He added, “It was no different that day. The affection of an elderly man towards a young girl was misunderstood. Dekhne wale ki aankh mein gadbad hai to kya kar sakte ho (What can you do when people perceive it wrongly)?”

Bedi further said, “Why would I kiss her with ill intent on a public stage? Her parents were there. People just need to create issues on social media out of nothing.”

The veteran actor also highlighted his long-standing career, stating, “I am not safeguarding myself. My work, which has touched people, speaks for me. Recently, a fan with a physically and mentally challenged son praised my work—that says more than anything else.”

Dhurandhar, also starring Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, and Akshaye Khanna, has been receiving a tremendous response from audiences and has crossed the ₹400 crore mark at the Indian box office.
