Israel Claims Killing of Iran’s Security Chief Ali Larijani, Tehran Denies

Israel has claimed that senior Iranian figure Ali Larijani was killed in an overnight airstrike, but Iran has not confirmed the report, leaving uncertainty over his fate.

According to Israeli Defence Ministry statements cited by AFP, Larijani—described as a close aide to Ali Khamenei and a key national security figure—was targeted in a precision strike in Tehran. While Israel has asserted he was killed, there has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities.

In a separate development, Israel also claimed to have eliminated Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of Iran’s Basij force, in another targeted airstrike. The Israeli Air Force said the strike was carried out using “precise intelligence” in the heart of Tehran.

The conflicting claims come as the Iran-Israel conflict enters its third week, intensifying uncertainty and raising concerns over wider regional escalation and global economic fallout.

Just a day earlier, Larijani had issued a strongly worded message to Muslim nations, criticising what he described as a lack of support for Tehran amid the ongoing war involving the United States and Israel.

In his message, he accused the US and Israel of carrying out what he termed “aggression” against Iran and called for greater unity among Islamic countries in response to the conflict.

With no independent confirmation of Larijani’s reported death, and Tehran yet to respond officially, the situation remains fluid, adding to the already heightened tensions in the region.
