Emraan Hashmi Shares Heartfelt Note After Awarapan 2 Teaser Release: ‘It Has Never Been Just a Film for Me’

Emraan Hashmi has thanked fans for the overwhelming response to the teaser of Awarapan 2, saying.

The franchise has remained deeply personal to him even 19 years after the original film’s release. The teaser, which recently dropped, revived memories of the 2007 cult classic and sparked excitement among longtime fans eager to see Shivam Pandit return to the big screen.

Emraan Hashmi Pens Emotional Note

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Emraan shared a collage featuring his character Shivam Pandit from the 2007 film alongside his look from Awarapan 2. Reflecting on the journey, the actor wrote, “Awarapan has never been just a film for me — it’s been 19 years of carrying Shivam with me, wherever I went.”

Expressing gratitude to fans for keeping the film’s legacy alive, he added, “Thank you for rooting for him, for this grand and loving welcome, and for opening your hearts to everyone who’s joined the journey since. Watching this family grow with you has been the best part of all of this. #Awarapan2.”

Fans Welcome Shivam Pandit’s Return

Fans flooded the comments section with nostalgic reactions and excitement for the sequel. One user wrote, “Bro can eat 100 Saiyaara with only 3 words — ‘To Phir Aao’.” Another commented, “Akkha Bollywood ek taraf, Emraan Hashmi ek taraf.” Others hailed his comeback, with one fan writing, “Lord Emraan is back to rule Bollywood finally.” Several also urged the makers to re-release the original Awarapan ahead of the sequel.

About Awarapan 2

Directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqi, Awarapan 2 continues the story of Shivam Pandit nearly two decades after the original film. The teaser opens with the mysterious return of Shivam following his apparent death in the first film, hinting that his story is far from over.

It also shows him visiting Aaliyah’s grave while grappling with themes of fate, redemption and mortality. Packed with intense action and emotional moments, the teaser concludes with Shivam declaring, “Iss baar ya to ye Awarapan khatam hoga ya main.”

The film also stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi and is scheduled to release in theatres on August 14, 2026.
