Kangana Ranaut Questions Bollywood’s Silence on Jharkhand Protest as Ranveer Singh’s ‘Pralay’ Shoot Moves to Mumbai

Kangana Ranaut has criticised Bollywood figures for remaining silent over the ongoing students’ protests in Jharkhand.

In an interview with ANI, the actor and BJP MP accused the industry of hypocrisy, alleging that some celebrities had expressed concern over the CJP-led protests at Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak but were not extending similar support to students in Jharkhand.

Questioning the contrasting reactions, Kangana said, “Yeh doglapan film industry ka nahi chalega,” arguing that the concerns expressed over one protest should also apply to students raising their voices elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra marked the birth anniversary of legendary actor Sridevi by sharing an update on the much-awaited biography being made on the late actor. Priyanka posted a glimpse of the project on her Instagram Stories while remembering Sridevi and her enduring contribution to Indian cinema.

The upcoming biography is expected to explore Sridevi’s celebrated career, personal journey and lasting legacy. The actor, who died in 2018, remains one of the most influential and admired performers in Indian cinema.

Kangana has also clarified her controversial “Generation Gutter” remark, which drew criticism following her comments about people who participated in the Jantar Mantar protest. She said her statement was not aimed at an entire generation but at a specific section of protesters whose actions she had seen in videos from the demonstration.

On the film front, Ranveer Singh is set to take on a new genre with Pralay, a zombie thriller directed by Jai Mehta. Following the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the actor’s upcoming project has generated considerable interest.

According to a recent report, the shooting schedule for Pralay, which was initially planned in Australia, has now been shifted to Mumbai. The change is expected to alter the film’s production plans as the makers prepare to begin work on the project.

Meanwhile, Batwara 1947 has also generated buzz ahead of its theatrical release. The film stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol and Ali Fazal and is backed by Aamir Khan Productions.

Set for release on August 14, the film has attracted attention for its cast and subject. Producer Ramesh Taurani has also shared his early reaction after attending a special screening, adding to the anticipation surrounding the film.
