Ramayana Event Featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi Postponed Amid Maharashtra Drought

Fans of Ramayana in Maharashtra will have to wait longer for a special event planned to mark the beginning of Navratri. The grand programme, scheduled to take place in Ramtek on October 11, 2026, has been postponed as the state grapples with a severe drought.

The event was expected to bring together members of the film’s cast, including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey. It was also reportedly planned to feature the launch of a song from Ramayana Part 1. Maharashtra MLA Ashish Jaiswal confirmed the postponement through a video shared on Instagram.

In his post, Jaiswal explained that the programme had been organised to highlight Ramtek’s religious and historical significance, particularly its association with Lord Ram. However, the event will not take place on the originally announced date due to unavoidable circumstances.

“We would like to inform all of you that the grand interaction program with the entire team of the film ‘Ramayana’, which was to be organized at Ramtek on 11th October 2026, has been postponed due to some unavoidable reasons,” Jaiswal said in the statement accompanying his video.

He added that Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and other cast members were expected to attend the gathering. The programme was intended to showcase the importance of Ramtek, a place associated with the journey of Lord Shri Ramchandra.

Jaiswal indicated that the drought situation and the need to support farmers had influenced the decision to postpone the event. He said assisting farmers during the difficult period was a priority and that the matter had been discussed with the film’s team. According to the MLA, the team was willing to extend support to farmers affected by the crisis.

He also expressed gratitude to social media influencers who had been promoting the programme and encouraging people to attend.

Ramtek was selected as the venue because of its religious significance and its connection with Lord Ram. However, the organisers have not announced a revised date for the event.

It also remains unclear whether the song launch will take place online or be rescheduled as a separate event. The film’s makers have not issued an official announcement regarding the next steps.

Ramayana Reportedly to Have Two Versions in the US

Meanwhile, Ramayana has drawn attention over reports that its first instalment will be released in the United States in two versions with different runtimes.

According to a report by Variety India, listings on US theatre chain AMC’s website indicate that the Hindi version will run for three hours and 15 minutes, while the English-language version, titled Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, will have a runtime of two hours and 45 minutes.

Both versions are reportedly scheduled to release on November 5. If the listings are accurate, the English-language cut will be 30 minutes shorter than its Hindi counterpart. The makers have yet to officially clarify the reported difference in runtimes.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana Among the Most Anticipated Films

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana Part 1 features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Ravie Dubey is also part of the ensemble cast.

The film is among the most anticipated Indian releases, with audiences awaiting its portrayal of the epic Ramayana on the big screen.

According to reports, Ramayana Part 1 could arrive in theatres on November 5, 2026, three days before Diwali. Paid previews are reportedly planned for November 4, although the release schedule and preview plans should be confirmed through an official announcement.
