‘Embarrassment to India’: Abhijeet Dipke Targets PM Modi After Release From Detention

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) convener Abhijeet Dipke launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi after being released from detention, calling the PM an “embarrassment to India” and accusing him of cowardice and bullying.

In a post on X on Sunday morning, Dipke wrote, “Modi, as PM, is an embarrassment to India. Never has this country seen a bigger coward and bully.”

His remarks came shortly after an executive magistrate ordered his release, along with CJP co-conveners Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, nearly 24 hours after the three were detained by Delhi Police at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The CJP is scheduled to hold a press conference at 2 pm on Sunday. The party has also reiterated its intention to continue its protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar following the police crackdown on demonstrations on Saturday.

Court Orders Release of CJP Leaders

Dipke, Das and Ranka were detained inside an aircraft shortly after it landed in Delhi on Saturday.

According to people familiar with the incident, Air India flight AI 2428 landed at 10:18 am before being directed to remote bay R12 following a request from the airport’s Airside Operations Control Centre to air traffic control.

The three leaders remained in custody for nearly 24 hours before an executive magistrate ordered their release. However, the order reportedly included a condition that they must not breach the peace for one year, according to the CJP’s legal head.

Dipke’s criticism of the prime minister came less than an hour after the release order, signalling that the party intended to continue its campaign despite the detention of its senior leadership.

Delhi on High Alert as CJP Plans Fresh Protest

Delhi Police announced extensive security arrangements across the national capital for Sunday, including restrictions in central Delhi, the closure of Jantar Mantar to protesters, barricading at city borders and traffic diversions at 30 locations.

The measures followed Saturday’s crackdown, during which an estimated 7,000 people were detained, according to the reported figures.

The developments also came as the Supreme Court prepared to hear a petition alleging that authorities had violated its directions by imposing a complete shutdown of metro and train services.

Despite the restrictions, CJP leaders said they intended to make another attempt to reach Jantar Mantar and continue their demonstration.

CJP Vows to Continue Agitation Against Election Chief

Ajinkya Shinde, whom the party designated to lead the movement following Dipke’s detention, said the protest would continue until the group’s demands were met.

Shinde rejected the suggestion that the detention of the party’s senior leaders would weaken the agitation, reiterating the demand for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.

The CJP’s campaign centres on its opposition to the chief election commissioner’s handling of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

With the party planning further demonstrations and security restrictions remaining in place, Sunday’s developments are expected to keep the dispute between the protesters and authorities in focus.
