Afghanistan completed a dominant series over Bangladesh with a crushing 200-run victory in the third and final ODI at Abu Dhabi, sealing a 3–0 series sweep.

After posting a commanding total of 293 for 9, Afghanistan bowled out Bangladesh for just 93 runs in under 28 overs, marking a remarkable turnaround after having lost the T20I series by the same margin.

Afghanistan’s Batting Performance

Afghanistan’s innings was built around half-centuries from Ibrahim Zadran and Mohammad Nabi. The openers, Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, gave the hosts a flying start, adding 99 runs for the first wicket. Gurbaz struck five fours and a six in his 42, while Zadran carried on steadily, reaching a fifty and sharing a 74-run second-wicket partnership with Sediqullah Atal.

Despite a brief wobble where part-time off-spinner Saif Hassan claimed three wickets in four overs, Afghanistan recovered well. Mohammad Nabi anchored the innings with a quick 58 not out off 38 balls, finishing strongly with multiple sixes in the final overs to take the total to 293.

Afghanistan’s Bowling Dominance

Bangladesh never recovered, collapsing under the relentless Afghan attack. Young seamer Bilal Sami starred with a maiden five-wicket haul, while Rashid Khan contributed with a three-wicket burst in his opening spell, leaving Bangladesh reeling. Key Bangladesh batsmen fell cheaply: Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, and Nurul Hasan were all dismissed in quick succession, and the innings folded in a mere 27.5 overs.

Saif Hassan showed some resistance with 43 runs off 54 balls, but lacked support at the other end. The collapse was rapid, with wickets falling in clusters: Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shamim Hossain, and Tanvir Islam all dismissed cheaply, sealing Bangladesh’s heaviest defeat in the series.

Series Significance

The 200-run victory marked Afghanistan’s first-ever 3–0 ODI sweep over Bangladesh, highlighting their growing depth, consistency, and all-round strength across formats. While Afghanistan had struggled in the preceding T20Is, their dominant performance in this ODI series underscores their rise as a formidable side in international cricket.

This comprehensive win will boost Afghanistan’s confidence ahead of upcoming international fixtures, while Bangladesh will be left to reassess both their batting lineup and middle-order resilience after another series of heavy defeats.
