Strong earthquake tremors were felt across Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and several other parts of north India on Saturday evening after a powerful quake struck Afghanistan.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake measured 6.2 on the Richter scale. Its epicentre was located in Afghanistan at a depth of 215 km.
In a post on X, the NCS said: “EQ of M: 6.2, On: 27/06/2026 19:04:51 IST, Lat: 36.442 N, Long: 70.672 E, Depth: 215 Km, Location: Afghanistan.”
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage in India following the tremors.
