AAP national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar has joined the BJP in criticising Rahul Gandhi over his foreign travel, taking a swipe.
At the Congress MP for skipping the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament. In a post on X, Kakkar quipped, “No one told the LoP that he could use Google Meet for a meeting with his NRI Congress prabharis in Germany instead of skipping the winter session…”
Rahul Gandhi is set to miss the remainder of the session due to his Germany visit from December 15 to 20, where he will attend an Indian Overseas Congress event in Berlin. The Winter Session ends on December 19.
The BJP had already launched a sharp attack, with spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla labelling Rahul Gandhi the “LoP—Leader of Paryatan and Leader of Partying.” He added, “Rahul Gandhi is a non-serious politician. People are in work mode… he is in permanent vacation mode. Recently, during the Bihar election, he was on a jungle safari.”
Poonawalla further alleged that Gandhi’s foreign trips were intended to “spew venom against India,” calling it a “‘Bharat badnami’ tour.”
The Congress has countered by pointing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s extensive foreign travel. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra asked, “Modiji spends almost half his working time outside the country. Why are they raising questions over the Leader of the Opposition travelling?”
Gaurav Gogoi, Deputy LoP in the Lok Sabha, said the BJP was resorting to personal attacks instead of addressing concerns raised by the opposition. “When the BJP does not have answers to Rahul Gandhi’s questions, the only resort is to malign him,” he said.
The Indian Overseas Congress has called Gandhi’s Berlin trip an important outreach initiative aimed at boosting the party’s engagement with the Indian diaspora.
