“Australia to Start Without Inglis, Zampa in IND vs AUS Opener”

Australia Hit by Injury Blow Ahead of ODI Series vs India.

Australia’s injury woes have deepened ahead of the three-match ODI series against India. The hosts, already missing Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green, will now also be without Josh Inglis and Adam Zampa for the series opener.

Inglis, sidelined during New Zealand’s T20Is due to a calf strain, has not recovered in time and is expected to miss the first two ODIs. Zampa will miss the first match due to family reasons.

With both first-choice keepers—Alex Carey and Inglis—unavailable, Josh Philippe is set to make his return to the ODI side. Carey, who is playing Sheffield Shield ahead of the Ashes, will join the series later. Philippe, who previously replaced Maxwell in the T20I series against New Zealand, has only three ODI appearances under his belt, scoring 65 runs, and will play his first ODI since 2021.

Australia’s Personnel Challenges

Josh Inglis: Ruled out with a right calf strain, missing all three T20Is against New Zealand and expected to sit out the first two ODIs versus India.

Cameron Green: Focusing on Ashes preparation, Green is playing Sheffield Shield cricket and will miss the T20I series against India.

Pat Cummins: The ODI and Test captain is unlikely to return until the second Ashes Test and is absent from Australia’s white-ball squad.

Australia will face the series opener against India with a weakened lineup, relying on replacements like Philippe to fill key roles.
