The box-office clash between Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 and Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s Batwara 1947 has begun with a clear winner on the opening day. Both films released in theatres on the same day and secured thousands of shows across India, but their Day 1 earnings showed a significant gap.

Awarapan 2 emerged as the stronger opener, recording substantially higher collections in both India and overseas markets.

Awarapan 2 Scores ₹21 Crore Net in India

Awarapan 2 registered an India net collection of ₹21 crore on its opening day, according to the reported figures. The film was screened across 9,033 shows and recorded an India gross of approximately ₹25.20 crore.

The Emraan Hashmi-led sequel added another ₹2 crore from overseas markets, taking its worldwide gross collection to around ₹27.20 crore on Day 1.

The strong opening gives Awarapan 2 an early advantage in the theatrical competition and sets the film up for potentially bigger numbers over the weekend.

Batwara 1947 Opens With ₹5.75 Crore

Meanwhile, Batwara 1947 had a comparatively slower start despite being screened across 8,721 shows.

The Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta starrer earned around ₹5.75 crore net in India on Day 1, while its India gross stood at approximately ₹6.84 crore.

The film collected a further ₹1.50 crore from international markets, taking its worldwide gross to around ₹8.34 crore.

Awarapan 2 Takes a Clear Lead

The opening-day numbers put Awarapan 2 comfortably ahead of Batwara 1947. In India, the difference between the two films stood at approximately ₹15.25 crore in net collections.

The worldwide gap was even wider, with Awarapan 2 collecting around ₹27.20 crore, compared with Batwara 1947’s ₹8.34 crore.
