Pop superstar Britney Spears has fired back at her ex-husband Kevin Federline following the release of his new memoir, You Thought You Knew.
In his book, Federline claims concern for Spears and expresses fears regarding their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
A representative for Spears, 43, responded ahead of the memoir’s release, telling People magazine:
“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir, The Woman in Me.”
Background
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, 47, were married in 2004 and had two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, before divorcing in 2007. Federline’s memoir reportedly details concerning moments from their sons’ teenage years, alleging that they approached him with claims about their mother’s behavior.
According to The New York Times, Federline writes:
“They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep, ’Oh, you’re awake?’, with a knife in her hand. Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation.”
He also expressed ongoing concern about Spears’ current life, warning that her situation seemed to be “racing toward something irreversible” and that “something bad is going to happen if things don’t change,” fearing that their sons could be left “holding the pieces.”
Federline reportedly criticizes the Free Britney movement, suggesting it may have had unintended negative effects, though he did not provide detailed explanations regarding Spears’ current circumstances.
