Esha Deol surprised fans in February 2024 when she announced her separation from husband Bharat Takhtani after 11 years of marriage. The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, decided to part ways amicably.

While neither Hema Malini nor Dharmendra publicly commented at the time, reports suggested the veteran actor was deeply saddened by the news. A source told Bollywood Life that Dharmendra wanted Esha and Bharat to reconsider their decision, adding, “No parent can be happy seeing their children’s family being broken. Even Dharmendra ji is a father, and one can understand his pain. He wasn’t against her decision, but wished they gave it another thought.”

According to the insider, Dharmendra’s concern stemmed from the impact separation could have on the couple’s daughters, Radhya and Miraya, who share a close bond with both sets of grandparents. “Separation affects the kids badly, and Dharamji feels that if the marriage can be saved, they should try,” the source added.

Esha and Bharat, however, issued a joint statement stressing the split was “mutual and amicable.” They said the well-being of their two children would remain their top priority and requested privacy as they navigated the transition.
