Dipika Kakar to Undergo Surgery After New Health Complication Post Cancer Treatment

Television actor Dipika Kakar is facing another medical challenge months after undergoing treatment for stage 2 liver cancer.

Her husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim, recently revealed that doctors have detected a 13mm cyst in her stomach, and she will soon be hospitalised for a minor surgical procedure.

Sudden pain led to hospital visit

In his latest YouTube vlog, Shoaib shared that Dipika had been experiencing mild stomach pain for two days, which worsened significantly on Friday night after they attended a birthday gathering. The couple immediately consulted doctors, who advised a CT scan.

The scan confirmed the presence of a small cyst measuring 13mm (1.3 cm). Dipika also mentioned experiencing pain in her left shoulder, which initially alarmed them. However, doctors clarified that the shoulder pain is unrelated to the cyst.

Early detection brings relief

Shoaib explained that while the cyst is in its early stage, doctors have recommended a procedure to remove it. He clarified that it will not be a major surgery; instead, the cyst will be treated through a burning procedure. Dipika is expected to be hospitalised for three to four days, with the procedure scheduled for Tuesday.

The couple admitted that the development was particularly concerning given Dipika’s previous diagnosis of an aggressive tumour. However, they expressed relief that the issue was identified early during routine follow-ups.

Dipika acknowledged feeling scared initially but stressed the importance of timely medical check-ups.

“For people who are battling like me, we need to fight such obstacles when they come and stay determined and strong. Yes, you get scared. I was scared too, but I’m glad we found this on time. Don’t ignore even the slightest pain,” she said.

Possible change in treatment plan

Shoaib further shared that Dipika’s treatment plan may change after the procedure. Her current oral chemotherapy could potentially be discontinued and replaced with immunotherapy, depending on her post-surgery assessment.

Her cancer journey

Dipika has been documenting her health journey over the past several months. In June 2025, the former Sasural Simar Ka actor underwent tumour-removal surgery, during which approximately 22 per cent of her liver was removed.

She has since been candid about her recovery, chemotherapy sessions, and emotional challenges through her YouTube channel and public appearances, including a conversation on the LOL Podcast hosted by Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa.

Despite the latest setback, Dipika remains hopeful and determined, urging others undergoing treatment to prioritise regular follow-ups and stay resilient through difficult phases.
