Ekta Kapoor Warns Actors About Fake Casting Agents Exploiting Balaji’s Name

The entertainment industry continues to face challenges from fraudulent casting calls, where scammers exploit aspiring actors by pretending to be industry professionals.

With social media making it easier for such scams to spread, production houses are increasingly issuing warnings. Ekta Kapoor and her banner Balaji Telefilms have now joined this effort, alerting the public to fake casting agents misusing the company’s name.

On Wednesday, Balaji Telefilms released an official clarification regarding two Instagram users, Vishal and Pooja, operating under the handle pooja_castingdirector and claiming to be “Assistant Casting Director” at Balaji. The statement read:

“Balaji Telefilms Limited hereby clarifies that these individuals have no affiliation with our organisation. We unequivocally disassociate ourselves from them and strongly condemn any attempt to misuse our company’s name or reputation to take undue advantage of aspiring actors.”

The company emphasised that all legitimate casting is conducted exclusively through verified channels and urged aspiring actors to exercise caution:

“All casting for Balaji Telefilms projects is carried out solely through our official and verified channels. Please refrain from engaging with fraudulent accounts.”

The warning was also shared across the studio’s social media platforms with the caption:

“Important Notice: Any account claiming casting authority outside our official channels is fraudulent. Your dream deserves safety. Don’t fall prey to fake casting calls. Always verify. #BalajiTelefilms.”

Kapoor herself reshared the notice on her Instagram story to ensure it reached a wider audience.

Meanwhile, Kapoor has been in the spotlight for her creative projects. Earlier this month, she revived her iconic TV drama Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi after 17 years. The reboot stars Smriti Irani reprising her role as Tulsi, along with Amar Upadhyay and a supporting cast including Ritu Chaudhary, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, Kamalika Guha Thakurta, Rohit Suchanti, Shagun Sharma, and Aman Gandhi. Since its July 29 premiere, the show has performed strongly in the ratings.

Additionally, Kapoor announced the return of Naagin for Season 7, posting a video for fans:

“To all my darling Naagin fans, out of all my shows you guys are the most loyal and probably troll me the most! So for all you guys, here it is – NAAGIN 7.”

The cast for the upcoming season is yet to be revealed. This proactive move by Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms aims to safeguard aspiring actors and maintain the integrity of casting processes in the industry.
