Ex-MLA Rahul Mamkootathil Arrested, Faces Third Sexual Assault Complaint

Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil Arrested After Third Rape Complaint.

Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil has been taken into police custody following the registration of a third rape complaint against him. The fresh complaint, received via email, prompted authorities to arrest him on Friday.

In the previous two cases, Mamkootathil had been granted anticipatory bail, shielding him from arrest. A special police team is currently questioning him in Pathanamthitta district.

Allegations in the Latest Complaint

The complainant has accused the MLA of sexual assault and coercing her into an abortion. She reportedly first contacted him via social media while facing marital issues.

According to the complaint, the two later entered into a relationship during which Mamkootathil allegedly promised to marry her. She claimed he suggested marriage would be easier if she became pregnant. The complaint states that he later forced her to terminate the pregnancy and questioned the paternity of the unborn child, causing her significant mental stress that led to a miscarriage.

The complainant has also accused the MLA of soliciting financial favours during the course of their relationship.

Police Investigation

Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and all aspects of the complaint are being examined. Further legal action will be determined based on the inquiry’s findings.
