Army in Fresh Gunbattle with Terrorists in J&K’s Kishtwar, Operation Ongoing.
The Army has engaged terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, with a gunfight underway in the Dul area, officials said on Sunday. The encounter began earlier in the day during an intelligence-based operation, when Army troops made contact with the militants. “Gunfire exchanged. Operation under progress,” the Army’s White Knight Corps posted on X.
This fresh operation comes just a day after two soldiers — Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh — were killed in an overnight gunfight in Kulgam district, where ‘Operation Akhal’ entered its ninth day on Saturday. Launched on August 1 following specific inputs about militant presence, the Kulgam operation has involved the Army, J&K Police, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG), and has so far resulted in the killing of at least one terrorist.
Paying tribute to the slain soldiers, the Chinar Corps wrote on X: “Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stands in solidarity with the bereaved families.”
Security forces remain on high alert across the region as operations continue in multiple districts.
