Hansika Motwani divorces Sohail Kathuria, lawyer says – there was already a demand for separation

Actress Hansika Motwani and businessman Sohail Kathuria have officially ended their marriage after four years. The couple was granted a mutual divorce by the Bandra Family Court.

Confirming the development, Hansika’s lawyer Adnan Sheikh told NDTV that both parties informed the court that their marriage had irretrievably broken down, prompting them to mutually decide to part ways. However, the couple has not publicly revealed the exact reason behind their separation.

According to a report by India Today, the divorce petition mentioned that the couple had frequent arguments over minor issues. Over time, these disagreements intensified to the point that living together under the same roof became increasingly difficult.

What the divorce petition revealed

The petition stated that both families and close friends had tried to reconcile Hansika and Sohail and encouraged them to work on their relationship. Despite several attempts, their differences could not be resolved.

Eventually, the couple decided to separate by mutual consent and legally dissolve their marriage. The petition further noted that Hansika and Sohail have been living separately since July 2, 2024. Both parties submitted their affidavits in court confirming their consent to end the marriage.

Hansika declined alimony

Hansika’s lawyer also clarified that the actress has not sought any alimony or maintenance.

“Our client had initially sought separation through mutual consent. Today, the respondent also filed an affidavit in court confirming his consent for divorce. It is important to clarify that our client has not made any claim for alimony or maintenance. Her only intention was to end the marriage respectfully and amicably. She now wishes to move forward with her personal life and professional commitments,” the lawyer said.

Married in 2022

Hansika Motwani and Sohail Kathuria tied the knot in a grand ceremony on December 4, 2022. Speculation about trouble in their marriage began circulating last year after Hansika deleted several wedding pictures from her Instagram account.

However, the couple has not yet issued any public statement regarding their divorce.
