Haryana Model Sheetal Murder Case: Accused Arrested, Confesses to Crime.
The murder of 24-year-old Haryanvi model Sheetal, also known as Simmi, has been cracked by the CIA-1 police team in Panipat with the arrest of the accused, Sunil. A resident of Israna, Sunil was taken into custody on Monday evening for allegedly stabbing Sheetal to death.
The case came to light after Sheetal’s family filed a missing person’s report at the Matlauda police station on June 15, stating that she had not returned from a video shoot scheduled in Ahar village on May 14. Despite family efforts to trace her, there was no sign of Sheetal for over a month.
On Monday morning, the Sonipat police recovered a woman’s body from a canal near Kharkhoda. Injury marks on the throat raised suspicions of foul play. The body was later identified as that of Sheetal following a post-mortem examination at PGI Khanpur.
According to Sub-Inspector Sandeep, who leads the CIA-1 team, a case under Section 127(6) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered following the complaint by Sheetal’s sister. Based on the family’s statements and subsequent investigation, Sunil was identified as the prime suspect and arrested near Park Hospital in Panipat.
During initial interrogation, Sunil confessed to fatally stabbing Sheetal and attempting to disguise the murder as a car accident by dumping the vehicle in the canal.
Police are expected to produce Sunil in court on Tuesday to seek his remand for further investigation and to recover the weapon used in the crime.
