‘I’m Not Afraid of You’: Dramatic Scenes as Cops Detain Abhijeet Dipke on Flight Ahead of CJP Protest
‘We Are Not Afraid’: CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke, 2 Leaders Detained From Aircraft at Delhi Airport
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained from an aircraft at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Saturday, ahead of the party’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar.
Delhi Police personnel reportedly entered the aircraft after it landed and approached the CJP leaders. The incident triggered a heated exchange as the party members questioned the police action and accused the authorities of attempting to detain them before they could leave the plane.
Abhijeet Dipke Calls Police Action ‘Dictatorship’
In a video shared by Dipke, he was seen confronting police personnel over their decision to enter the aircraft.
“You can see where the nation is heading. They are here to arrest us directly from the flight. This is something not even Indira Gandhi had done. This is dictatorship. Delhi police have entered the flight and are trying to arrest us,” Dipke said.
He then challenged the personnel to take him into custody, saying, “Please come, I have come here to be arrested; arrest me.”
Police personnel responded by asking the CJP founder to cooperate, clarifying, “No, this is not an arrest. Please cooperate.”
‘You Could Have Waited Till We Came Out’
The video showed a commotion inside the aircraft as Dipke and the other party members questioned why the police had boarded the plane instead of waiting for the passengers to disembark.
Addressing the women police personnel who entered the aircraft, Dipke said they could have waited until the leaders came out.
“You could have waited till we came out. Come arrest us; we are not afraid,” he said.
Dipke shared the footage on social media, highlighting the police action ahead of the planned demonstration.
CJP Leaders Detained Ahead of Jantar Mantar Protest
The detention of Dipke, Das and Ranka came amid heightened security arrangements in Delhi ahead of the CJP’s proposed protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The party has been demanding the CEC’s resignation, alleging irregularities in the electoral process. The planned demonstration has been accompanied by extensive security measures and restrictions across parts of the capital.
The circumstances surrounding the detentions and the police’s subsequent actions were not immediately clear from the video.
