Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, has reportedly survived two alleged assassination attempts in recent days, according to an Iranian lawmaker cited by local media.
Mohammadreza Rezaei Kouchi, a member of Iran’s parliament, told the Islamic Republic News Agency that the attacks occurred amid ongoing hostilities involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
According to Rezaei Kouchi, one of the alleged attacks targeted the residence of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Mojtaba Khamenei was reportedly present at the residence alongside Ali Khamenei but escaped unharmed.
The lawmaker also claimed that another strike targeted a hospital where Mojtaba Khamenei was present, describing him as the “third leader of the Islamic Republic.” He said the attempts by the United States and Israel had failed, but did not provide the name or location of the hospital.
Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that Mojtaba Khamenei may have been injured during the initial attacks. “I think he probably is. I think he’s damaged, but I think he’s probably alive in some form,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News Radio host Brian Kilmeade.
Mojtaba Khamenei issued his first public message on Thursday. However, since his appointment nearly a week ago, no photographs or video recordings of him have been released, fueling speculation about his health and whereabouts.
