CBFC Grants U/A Certificate to Jolly LLB 3 After Modifications.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted a U/A certificate, with a 16+ rating, to Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s upcoming film Jolly LLB 3 on September 2. Bollywood Hungama reports that the board asked the makers to make several modifications, none of which affect the narrative of the film.
Changes Suggested by CBFC
Among the requested edits, the old disclaimer was removed and replaced with a new one. Brand logos for alcohol were blurred, and the usage of a certain expletive was deleted. A scene depicting police assaulting an old man was modified, and visuals of a logo on a file carried by Seema Biswas’ character, Janaki, were blurred. Additionally, a dialogue in the second half of the film was changed to: “Janki amma ka gaon sirf ek…cheque muh pe fek ke mara.”
Following these changes, the CBFC approved the film. According to the certificate, the runtime of Jolly LLB 3 is 157 minutes, or 2 hours and 37 minutes.
Plea Filed Against the Film
A public interest litigation (PIL) was recently filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court, alleging that the film disrespects the judiciary through its song Bhai Vakeel Hai. The PIL, filed by a lawyer from Jabalpur, objects to lyrics such as “fikar na kar tera bhai vakeel hai” and claims references to “package deals” and “judge ko mamu banana” insult the Indian judiciary. The plea also raises concerns over actors dancing in lawyers’ gowns and black coats, which are traditionally worn in court with dignity.
