Kangana Ranaut Reacts to Taapsee Pannu’s Feud Remarks, Revives ‘Sasti Copy’ Attack

Taapsee Pannu has revisited her much-publicised feud with Kangana Ranaut, saying the two have never actually met despite years of public exchanges.

Speaking to India Today, Taapsee was asked whether she and Kangana had made peace. She said she had not met Kangana before the controversy began and had not met her since either.

Taapsee suggested that their contrasting opinions reflected their respective upbringings, personalities and ways of looking at things, adding that Kangana was entitled to stand by her own views.

Her comments quickly prompted a response from Kangana, who accused Taapsee of going too far by bringing her upbringing and parents into the conversation.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Kangana once again referred to Taapsee as a “sasti copy” and claimed the actress had crossed “all limits” by commenting on her upbringing. Kangana also questioned why Taapsee could not have been “original” like her parents.

How Their Feud Started

The public friction between Taapsee and Kangana dates back to 2019.

Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel had accused Taapsee of copying Kangana and branded her a “sasti copy” after Taapsee praised the trailer of Judgementall Hai Kya without specifically mentioning Kangana.

The comments sparked a series of exchanges between the two camps. Taapsee later made it clear that she had no interest in engaging in a personal mudslinging battle.

Their names resurfaced during the 2020 debate over nepotism and the treatment of outsiders in Bollywood. Kangana labelled Taapsee and Swara Bhasker “B-grade actresses” and “needy outsiders”.

Taapsee pushed back, arguing that outsiders should not be divided against one another and that the conversation should instead focus on improving the film industry’s system.

Despite the repeated public exchanges, Taapsee has maintained that she never had a personal confrontation with Kangana.

Taapsee Rules Out Politics

During the interview, Taapsee also addressed speculation about a possible political career.

The actress said she was not considering entering politics and wanted to continue focusing on films. While she follows political developments and speaks about issues that matter to her, she said she does so as a citizen rather than from a political perspective.

Meanwhile, Taapsee is preparing for the release of Gandhari, a revenge drama scheduled to premiere on Netflix on September 3.
