Vishal Agarwal acknowledged that Ketan wore “a small patch of wig” but said there was never any attempt to hide it from Siya or her family.
“It is true that Ketan wore a small patch of wig. Siya and her family had been informed about it before the engagement. If she had any issues, she should have said no. What was the need to kill my son?” he told reporters, amid growing speculation over the motive behind the killing.
Questions around Ketan’s hair patch have surfaced as a new angle in the investigation. However, police have indicated that it is unlikely to be the sole reason behind the alleged murder and continue to probe the circumstances that led to the crime.
Vishal Agarwal also refuted the Goyal family’s claim that Ketan had insisted on the trek to Lohagad Fort.
“According to the information I have, it was Siya who wanted to go on the trek,” he said.
Ketan, 26, died on June 18 after being taken on a trek to Pune’s historic Lohagad Fort. Police allege that Siya Goyal, along with her alleged boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary, pushed him into a 300-foot gorge before trying to portray the incident as an accidental fall while he was posing for photographs.
Investigators believe the murder was premeditated and have alleged that multiple earlier attempts were made to kill Ketan before the fatal attack at the fort. However, the investigation into the exact motive remains ongoing.
