Aasha Singh Jaiswal: Mahabharat Actor and Veteran Mimicry Artist Dies in Mumbai

Veteran actor and mimicry artist Aasha Singh Jaiswal passed away in Mumbai on August 22. Her son, Akkash Bharadwaj, confirmed the news, saying she died at around 7:30 pm. Her last rites were performed the following morning at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle West.

Son Akkash Pays Emotional Tribute

Akkash remembered his mother as an “Iron Lady” and paid tribute to her through an emotional Instagram post. He urged people to pray for her soul and continue watching and remembering her work.

He also reflected on his mother’s deep commitment to her profession, describing her work as an important part of her life. In his message, he encouraged people to remember her through the performances and contributions she left behind.

Aasha Singh Jaiswal’s Career in Films and Television

Aasha Singh Jaiswal worked across television, cinema and live performances during her long career. She became widely recognised for portraying Kripi, the sister of Kripacharya, in B.R. Chopra’s iconic mythological television series Mahabharat.

Her film appearances included character roles in Baazigar, Bobby Jasoos, Deewangee, Aag, Kayda Kanoon, Aansu Bane Angaarey and Ghar Bazar.

Beyond acting, Aasha was known as a pioneering female mimicry artist. She was particularly admired for her impressions of legendary actress Meena Kumari. She also founded Aasha Events and Films and remained associated with social work.

With her passing, the entertainment industry has lost an artist remembered not only for her acting but also for her distinctive contribution to mimicry and live performance.
