Yash Raj Films’ Mardaani franchise, one of Hindi cinema’s biggest solo female-led sagas, is set to return this month with Mardaani 3. Rani Mukerji will reprise her role as the fearless cop Shivani Shivaji Roy, and the makers have officially announced the release date: January 30, 2026.
YRF shared the film’s poster with the caption: “She won’t stop, until she rescues them all! #RaniMukerji is back as the fearless cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in #Mardaani3. Rescue begins in cinemas near you on 30th Jan.”
Rani Mukerji had earlier promised that Mardaani 3 would take the adrenaline and intensity of the franchise to new heights. “When we set out to make Mardaani 3, we were hoping to find a script that would elevate the experience of watching a Mardaani film,” she said. “I am really excited about what we have, and I hope audiences feel the same after watching it in theatres.”
The actor added, “Mardaani is an extremely loved franchise, and we have a responsibility to meet the expectations of the audience. Mardaani 3 is dark, deadly and brutal. I am curious to see the response of the viewers and hope they shower it with the same love they have always given.”
Aditya Chopra has entrusted two promising talents from YRF’s creative team to carry forward the franchise. The script is penned by Aayush Gupta, known for The Railway Men, while Abhiraj Minawala, who has assisted on films like Band Baaja Baaraat, Gunday, Sultan and Tiger 3, makes his directorial debut with Mardaani 3.
With a mix of high-octane action, dark thrills, and Rani Mukerji’s commanding performance, Mardaani 3 promises to continue the legacy of one of Hindi cinema’s most iconic female-led franchises.
