‘Masti 4’ Gets ‘A’ Certificate; CBFC Orders Dialogue Changes and Removal of Explicit Visuals.
Masti 4 has finally cleared censorship with an ‘A – Adults Only’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the censor board asked the makers to alter certain dialogues, including replacing one line entirely and modifying the word ‘behen’. The name of an alcohol brand was also changed, likely to a fictional one.
The CBFC flagged a few visual elements as well. The makers were instructed to remove a 9-second “top-angle animal humping” visual and shorten 30-second-long close-up shots of human faces.
As per the censor certificate, the final runtime of the film is 144.17 minutes (approximately 2 hours and 24 minutes).
Cast and Release
Releasing on November 21, Masti 4 brings back the original trio—Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani. The film also stars Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Nargis Fakhri, Elnaaz Norouzi, Ruhi Singh, Shreya Sharma, and Shaad Randhawa.
The film is presented by Waveband Production and Zee Studios, in association with Maruti International and Balaji Telefilms, and is produced by A. Jhunjhunwala, Shikha Karan Ahluwalia, Indra Kumar, Ashok Thakeria, Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, and Umesh Bansal.
“Not Meant to Objectify Women,” Says Aftab
Addressing long-standing criticism of the franchise, actor Aftab Shivdasani recently said that Masti 4 is not intended to objectify women or promote extramarital affairs.
“From Masti 1, people claimed we were objectifying women and encouraging affairs, but the premise has always been simple: three men try to have fun outside their marriage and ultimately learn a lesson from their wives. We never aimed to preach. The films are meant for entertainment, not to oversensitise people. Even serious films have handled the topic of affairs, yet no one questions those,” he said.
