A notice to move a resolution seeking the removal of Om Birla as Speaker has been admitted in the Lok Sabha after the required 50 members stood in support. A total of 10 hours have been allotted for the debate.

The motion has been signed by 118 Opposition MPs, who have accused the Speaker of “partisan” conduct after Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi was allegedly not allowed to speak in the House.

The Budget Session of Parliament of India began on January 28. The first phase ran until February 13, while the second phase is scheduled to conclude on April 2.
