Cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi, who was implicated in the 2023 Nuh communal violence, was allegedly duped of ₹30,000 by a man under the pretext of arranging his marriage, PTI reported, citing police sources.

According to the authorities, an FIR has been lodged against the accused and their associates following a complaint filed by Bajrangi.

As per the complaint, Bajrangi approached a man named Bunty—a relative of his neighbour—seeking help to find a suitable bride. Bunty introduced him to a woman named Rani and arranged for Bajrangi to visit Aligarh three times to meet prospective matches. However, the meetings failed to progress further.

Later, Bunty sent Bajrangi a photograph of a young woman he claimed to like. On September 5, 2025, Bunty and Rani allegedly visited Bajrangi’s home with the woman and her family to discuss a marriage proposal. A wedding date was reportedly fixed for February 7, 2026.

Following instructions, Bajrangi transferred ₹30,000 to Bunty’s account to buy clothes for the bride. However, when he arrived in Aligarh with his wedding procession, neither Bunty nor Rani could be found. Their phones were switched off, and the bride reportedly denied any knowledge of the wedding.

“I had to return empty-handed,” Bajrangi said in his complaint.

An FIR has been registered against Bunty and Rani under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
