Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday thanked the people of Bihar for delivering a sweeping mandate to the NDA in the 2025 Assembly elections, saying the result reflects the triumph of good governance and development in the state.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said voters had rewarded the alliance after witnessing its performance and its vision for Bihar’s future.
“Victory of good governance has been achieved. Victory of development has been achieved. Victory of the spirit of public welfare has been achieved. Victory of social justice has been achieved,” he wrote, expressing “deepest gratitude” to the people for what he called a “historic and unprecedented” verdict.
Modi said the mandate would energise the NDA to “serve the people with renewed resolve” and continue the state’s development push. “The NDA has ensured all-round development of the state. The people have given us a massive majority after witnessing our track record and our vision to take the state to new heights.”
The Prime Minister also congratulated Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan, HAM founder Jitan Ram Manjhi and Rashtriya Lok Morcha president Upendra Kushwaha on the alliance’s emphatic victory. He added that the government would continue working to expand opportunities for Bihar’s youth and women. “In the coming times, we will do even more for Bihar’s progress, Bihar’s infrastructure and Bihar’s culture. We will ensure that the state’s Yuva Shakti and Nari Shakti get many opportunities to lead a life of prosperity,” he said.
The NDA is on course to win over 200 seats in the 243-member Assembly, comfortably crossing the two-thirds majority mark of 162. The BJP alone is leading in more than 90 seats, improving significantly on its tally of 74 in 2020. The JD(U) has also nearly doubled its previous count of 43 seats, further strengthening Nitish Kumar’s position as he prepares to assume office for a ninth term.
