Prithvi Shaw, Akriti Agarwal Rekindle Romance Weeks After Calling Off Engagement
Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and actor-influencer Akriti Agarwal have reportedly reconciled just weeks after calling off their engagement. Akriti confirmed their decision to give the relationship another chance through an Instagram statement on Monday, admitting that the opinions of people close to her had influenced her decision to separate from the cricketer.
Shaw subsequently shared the statement on his Instagram story on Monday evening, drawing attention to the couple’s reconciliation.
In a post titled ‘A personal clarification’, Akriti reflected on the circumstances surrounding their breakup and acknowledged that she had allowed others to shape her perception of Shaw and their relationship.
“When I called off our engagement, I let the opinions of people close to me – who seemed to know our relationship better than we did – influence how I saw my fiancee and our relationship,” she wrote.
Akriti further admitted that she had been misguided and made the decision without having an honest conversation with Shaw.
Accepting responsibility for the separation and the emotional hurt it caused, she said the two had since communicated openly, understood each other better and decided to reunite.
“Together, we are enough for each other, and we don’t need anyone else,” she stated, urging people to respect their decision as they begin a new chapter together.
Engagement, breakup and reconciliation
Shaw and Akriti announced their engagement in March 2026, sharing photographs of the proposal on social media. However, in September, Akriti announced that they had called off the engagement, citing differences in their goals and circumstances.
Her latest statement signals a reversal of that decision. While the couple have not shared further details about the events leading to their separation or reconciliation, their public statements indicate that they have decided to move forward together.
Prithvi Shaw focuses on domestic cricket comeback
Meanwhile, Shaw continues to work towards reviving his cricket career after a promising beginning at the international level.
The right-handed batter rose to prominence after captaining India to the Under-19 World Cup title in 2018. Later that year, he made an impressive start to his Test career by scoring a century on debut against the West Indies.
However, injuries, inconsistent performances and an extended absence from the national team have slowed his progress.
In a bid to rebuild his career, Shaw moved from Mumbai to Maharashtra ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season. He subsequently produced a major performance in the Ranji Trophy, scoring 222 runs against Chandigarh, although he remains outside India’s immediate plans.
Shaw has made an encouraging start to the 2026-27 domestic season as well. Leading Maharashtra in the absence of regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is currently on India A duty, he scored 70 off 73 balls against Services at Palam A Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.
His innings included eight fours and a six before left-arm spinner Arjun Sharma dismissed him shortly before lunch.
While Shaw looks to regain his place among India’s leading batting prospects, his reconciliation with Akriti marks a fresh turn in his personal life.
