Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav Ride Bullet in Bihar Yatra; Tej Pratap Takes a Dig
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav were spotted riding a Bullet motorcycle during their ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar’s Purnia on Sunday. The 16-day campaign, launched on August 17 from Sasaram, aims to cover over 20 districts and conclude with a rally in Patna on September 1, focusing on alleged irregularities in the state’s voter rolls.
As the yatra entered Araria, large crowds lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the leaders. Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, and Yadav are scheduled to hold a joint press conference in Araria with other INDIA bloc leaders.
Addressing a rally in Katihar on Saturday, Gandhi criticised attempts to manipulate votes in Bihar ahead of assembly polls, accusing the BJP of “shutting the doors of opportunity” for the poor.
The yatra also drew criticism from sacked RJD MLA Tej Pratap Yadav, who questioned the leaders’ connection with ordinary citizens.
“Tejashwi and Rahul are carrying out their yatra, but we want to walk the small village pathways,” Tej Pratap said. “We aim to be leaders connected to the ground. People know who the real second Lalu is. We do not fly in helicopters; we walk among the people.”
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary also mocked the leaders, highlighting their dynastic politics.
“Some princes are roaming the state. One’s father was Chief Minister for 15 years, another’s mother was also Chief Minister. Rahul Gandhi’s journey began only after Lalu Prasad Yadav flagged it off from Sasaram,” he said.
The Bullet ride and street interactions are part of the leaders’ strategy to energize voters ahead of the Bihar assembly polls, even as rival politicians continue to critique their approach.
