Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma and actor Manoj Bajpayee are reuniting nearly three decades after their iconic collaboration on Satya.
The duo has teamed up for a horror comedy titled Police Station Mein Bhoot, which also stars Genelia Deshmukh. “Working with Manoj again after Satya is both nostalgic and thrilling,” said Varma. “Fear is most frightening when it challenges the highest authority of safety, and a police station is the ultimate symbol of power. With Manoj’s intensity and Genelia’s vulnerability, this story will push boundaries of how we perceive horror in the guise of authority.”
The film has already completed its first shooting schedule and promises a blend of fear, irony, and Varma’s trademark storytelling style.
Their previous collaboration, Satya (1998), went on to become a cult classic, lauded for its raw portrayal of Mumbai’s underworld and Bajpayee’s breakout performance as Bhiku Mhatre. The film, which won a National Award, is regarded as one of Indian cinema’s greatest crime dramas and laid the foundation for Bollywood’s gangster genre.
