Security agencies are on heightened alert after intelligence inputs flagged a potential terror threat targeting key locations in the national capital.

That central agencies have received information suggesting that sensitive sites, including areas around the Red Fort, could be on the radar of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.

According to sources, agencies have warned of a possible improvised explosive device (IED) threat in parts of Old Delhi. A temple in the Chandni Chowk area is also believed to be among the locations under enhanced surveillance. Security has been tightened, and local police units are coordinating closely with central intelligence agencies to monitor any suspicious activity.

Officials indicated that prominent religious sites in other cities are also being reviewed as a precautionary measure. However, authorities have not issued any public advisory beyond heightened vigilance and routine security checks.

The alert follows a deadly car explosion reported near the Red Fort area on November 10, 2025, when an explosives-laden vehicle detonated close to Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries. Investigations into that incident are ongoing.

Agencies have urged citizens to remain alert and report any unattended objects or suspicious movements to the nearest police station, while assuring that comprehensive security arrangements are in place to prevent any untoward incident.
