Serena and Venus Williams are set to reunite at Flushing Meadows after receiving a wild card for the women’s doubles draw at the 2026 US Open.
The USTA confirmed the sisters’ entry on Wednesday, setting the stage for another appearance together at the Grand Slam.
The Williams sisters have built one of the most successful partnerships in tennis history, winning 14 Grand Slam doubles titles. Their victories include US Open championships in 1999 and 2009, while they also collected four Olympic gold medals as a doubles team.
The sisters last played together at the US Open in 2022, when Serena competed at the tournament for the final time before ending her professional career. They reunited earlier this year at the Cincinnati Open, marking their first doubles appearance together since 2022, but were beaten in the opening round.
Serena has already featured at this year’s US Open, teaming up with Carlos Alcaraz in the mixed doubles competition. The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion and six-time US Open winner advanced to the quarter-finals before her campaign ended. Venus, meanwhile, has been awarded a wild card into the women’s singles main draw.
Their doubles appearance will provide the sisters with another opportunity to add to their extraordinary record at the US Open and revisit a partnership that has produced numerous major titles.
Wawrinka Returns to US Open Main Draw
Three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka has secured a singles main-draw wild card for the 2026 US Open after American Patrick Kypson withdrew because of an injury.
Wawrinka had initially missed out on the tournament’s wild cards, with the final place awarded to Kypson. The omission had raised the possibility that the Swiss veteran could miss what may be his final US Open appearance.
Kypson’s withdrawal has now handed Wawrinka another chance to compete at Flushing Meadows. The 41-year-old is playing the final season of his professional career and has also received wild cards for the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon in 2026.
Wawrinka has won three Grand Slam singles titles, lifting the Australian Open trophy in 2014, the French Open in 2015 and the US Open in 2016. His New York triumph came against Novak Djokovic in the final, adding another major achievement to a career that unfolded during the era of tennis’ Big Three.
With the latest wild card, Wawrinka will now have another opportunity to compete at the tournament where he secured one of the most significant victories of his career.
