Jannik Sinner underlined his status as a leading title contender for French Open after a commanding run to the Madrid Open crown, crushing Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-2 in a one-sided final.

The World No.1 needed just 57 minutes to seal the title, extending a remarkable streak that has made him the form player heading into Roland Garros. With the win, Sinner became the first man to claim five consecutive Masters 1000 titles and the first to sweep the opening four Masters events of a season.

He arrives in Paris riding extraordinary numbers — 13 straight sets won, nine consecutive match victories, and 65 service games held without a break. Overall, Sinner has now won 28 matches in a row at Masters level and 45 of his last 47 matches, highlighting a period of rare dominance.

“I started the match very well… I’m very happy with the level I’m playing,” Sinner said after lifting the trophy. “Winning another title like this means a lot. It’s been an incredible tournament.”

Ruthless in the final

Sinner’s control against Zverev was absolute. He converted all four break points, did not face a single break on his own serve, and won 93 per cent of his first-serve points. From the baseline, he combined precision and power to keep Zverev constantly on the back foot.

He surged to a 5-0 lead in the opening set and never allowed the German to recover, closing out the match emphatically. The victory also extended Sinner’s head-to-head advantage over Zverev to 10-4, continuing a run of dominant straight-set wins.

Eyes on history in Rome and Paris

Sinner has now captured eight of the nine ATP Masters 1000 titles, with only the Italian Open missing from his collection. The upcoming Rome event offers him a chance to complete the Career Golden Masters — a feat achieved only by Novak Djokovic.

With momentum firmly on his side, Sinner heads to Roland Garros as the man to beat, carrying both form and confidence into the clay-court Grand Slam.
