Sonal Chauhan has appealed for assistance after being stranded in Dubai amid widespread flight suspensions triggered by escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The actress took to social media to address Narendra Modi directly, explaining that she was unable to return to India following the disruption of air services.
“Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji, I am currently stranded in Dubai due to the ongoing crisis,” she wrote, adding that flights had been cancelled and there was no confirmed route for her journey home. “With flights canceled and no clear way to return to India, I respectfully seek the Government’s guidance for a safe journey home. Grateful for any support extended.”
Airspace disruption amid regional tensions
The travel chaos follows heightened tensions in the Middle East after military strikes involving the United States and Israel targeting locations in Iran. As a precaution, parts of Gulf airspace witnessed temporary restrictions, significantly impacting international flight operations and leaving thousands of passengers stranded.
Chauhan’s appeal drew widespread attention online, with several users urging authorities to prioritise the safety of Indian citizens abroad. Others suggested reaching out to diplomatic channels for assistance.
Indian mission responds
The Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi confirmed it is coordinating with local authorities and airline operators to assist affected Indian passengers across the UAE.
In a statement, the embassy said it remains in contact with UAE officials and airlines to ensure support for stranded travellers during the temporary and precautionary airspace closure. Authorities in the UAE have reportedly assured full cooperation.
Career background
Chauhan rose to prominence with her Bollywood debut in Jannat opposite Emraan Hashmi. Before entering the film industry, she built a career in modelling and won the Miss World Tourism title in 2005.
With flight schedules still uncertain, it remains unclear when stranded passengers — including Chauhan — will be able to resume their journeys home.
