Scientists have found that the rate of global warming has increased.
The pace of global warming has been accelerating since around 2015. Scientists have made this claim based on an analysis by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK).
The study indicates that global temperatures are rising at a rate of approximately 0.35°C per decade. Between 1970 and 2015, the average rate of temperature rise was slightly less than 0.2°C per decade. This study has been published in the scientific journal *Geophysical Research Letters*.
According to a report by *Science Daily*, American statistician and study co-author Grant Foster stated, “We have seen an acceleration in global warming since around 2015.”
A similar trend of acceleration was observed across all five temperature records, even though the data were compiled by different scientific organizations using varying methodologies. Across all datasets, the acceleration in global warming became apparent around 2013 or 2014. Researchers identify the onset of this significant shift as occurring around 2015, when the evidence became clear.
