Telangana BJP Leader T Raja Singh Resigns, Protests Appointment of State Chief.

Controversial Telangana MLA T Raja Singh has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), citing dissatisfaction over the reported appointment of N Ramchander Rao as the party’s next state president. Singh, known for his communally charged remarks and repeated hate speech allegations, submitted his resignation to Union Minister and Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy.

In a strongly worded letter, Singh voiced his disapproval over Rao’s potential elevation, claiming it had “shocked and disappointed” not just him, but “lakhs of Karyakartas, leaders, and voters.” He argued that many senior leaders within the state were better suited for the role and accused some individuals of influencing the central leadership through backdoor lobbying.

“This decision raises serious doubts about the direction we are heading,” Singh wrote. “There are many capable MLAs and MPs who have worked tirelessly to grow the BJP in Telangana. Instead, personal interests seem to have prevailed.”

Singh denied his protest was motivated by personal ambition, emphasizing his loyalty as a three-time MLA and longstanding BJP worker. “This letter reflects the pain and frustration of thousands who feel sidelined and unheard,” he said, calling the leadership choice a missed opportunity for the BJP at a time when it was close to forming its first government in the state.

He concluded his letter by resigning from the party’s primary membership and asking Mr. Reddy to notify the Telangana Assembly Speaker. However, Singh reaffirmed his commitment to Hindutva and vowed to continue serving the people of Goshamahal.

“This is a difficult but necessary decision,” he wrote. “The silence of many should not be mistaken for agreement. I urge our senior leadership—including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, and Home Minister Amit Shah—to reconsider the party’s course in Telangana.”

N Ramchander Rao, a lawyer and former MLC with a background in the BJP’s student and youth wings, is reportedly poised to be elected unopposed as the new state president. According to sources, the BJP’s central leadership has already cleared his name.

Mr. Kishan Reddy, who led the BJP during the 2023 Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, has continued to hold dual responsibilities as Union Minister and state party chief. His replacement has been anticipated for some time.
